Two Rivers is named for the East and West Twin Rivers, which meet and run out into Lake Michigan right in town. That much water and wind means damp air off the lake, heavy snow some winters and plenty of salt on the roads and lots. Asphalt that never gets sealed dries out, turns grey and starts to ravel at the edges. Older drives and lots in town often show it first along the cracks, where water gets in and the freeze lifts the surface. A crack seal and a sealcoat put a stop to that before it turns into patch work.
